Los Pinos Peak

Los Pinos Peak is a mountain summit in the Santa Ana Mountains of Orange County that reaches about 4,455 feet in elevation. The peak sits at the southern end of the range and offers expansive views across the surrounding terrain.

The peak served as a geographical landmark for indigenous communities long before modern settlement reached the region. A major wildfire in 2018 significantly altered the landscape and left lasting marks on the terrain.

The mountain trails connect multiple communities through organized group hikes, fostering environmental education and appreciation for Southern California's natural heritage.

The summit can be reached via hiking trails that vary in length and difficulty depending on the route chosen. Visitors should bring plenty of water and sun protection, as the exposed ridgeline offers little shade.

The vegetation on the peak shows signs of recovery from the 2018 wildfire, with native pine trees and other plants gradually returning. This visible healing process makes the site an interesting example of natural renewal on the mountainside.
