Redonda Mesa

Redonda Mesa is a mountain summit in the southern Santa Ana Mountains standing at approximately 2,800 feet elevation. The peak offers sweeping views across Temecula Valley and toward the distant San Jacinto Mountains.

The summit served as a microwave relay station site in the 1970s with a 100-foot communications tower. After AT&T sold the property in 2002, the land transitioned to private residential use.

Local hiking trails allow nature enthusiasts to explore the California coastal sage scrub plant community that covers the natural areas.

Hikers should bring detailed maps and proper equipment since trails to the summit require careful navigation. Conditions on the peak can vary significantly depending on the season and weather patterns.

The summit contains a former communications building converted into a private residence with far-reaching views that extend to Catalina Island on clear days. This unusual transformation from industrial facility to dwelling is a rare repurposing in this mountain region.
