Redonda Mesa, Mountain summit in Santa Ana Mountains, California, US

Redonda Mesa is a mountain summit in the southern Santa Ana Mountains standing at approximately 2,800 feet elevation. The peak offers sweeping views across Temecula Valley and toward the distant San Jacinto Mountains.

In the late 1960s Edward E. Sharp of Newport Beach bought the mesa top from the Rancho California Land Company. Around 1981 AT&T acquired 20 acres there and built a 100-foot (30 m) tower with white cones aimed at Oceanside and San Clemente, serving the region for about a decade. AT&T sold the land back to the Sharp Family Trust in 2002, which then sold it to Herbert Massinger.

Local hiking trails allow nature enthusiasts to explore the California coastal sage scrub plant community that covers the natural areas.

Hikers should bring detailed maps and proper equipment since trails to the summit require careful navigation. Conditions on the peak can vary significantly depending on the season and weather patterns.

The 100-foot (30 m) tower AT&T built around 1981 carried regional telephone traffic for about a decade before new technology made it obsolete. Herbert Massinger, who bought the 20-acre parcel from the Sharp Family Trust, remodeled the tower itself into a residence. From the site, Catalina, San Clemente and the Coronado Islands off Mexico are visible on clear days.
