Temecula's Chapel of Memories, Wedding chapel in Old Town Temecula, US

The Chapel of Memories is a wooden church building in Sam Hicks Monument Park, on the north side of Old Town Temecula. It measures 26 by 36 feet with dark brown stained clapboard siding, granite block front steps and a 7-foot-wide locally quarried granite altar. A steeple tops the structure, and its stained glass windows were fabricated by local businessman Stan Hansen from glass taken from a 100-year-old church in St. Joseph, Missouri.

The building was constructed in 1917 as St. Catherine's of Alexandria Church and originally stood in a different location. In 1989 it was moved to Sam Hicks Monument Park as a preservation effort by the community.

The chapel bears the name "Chapel of Memories" and serves today mainly as a wedding venue, showing how its purpose has shifted from a traditional place of worship to a space for personal celebrations. Visitors can see how the tall windows and wooden details shape the interior and maintain a sense of the original religious character.

The chapel stands in Sam Hicks Monument Park, on the north side of Old Town Temecula, not at its original 6th and Front Streets corner. The building measures 26 by 36 feet, with a 12 by 12 foot sanctuary and a 10 by 12 foot vestry, so gatherings are small. It is owned by the Old Town Temecula Museum Society and was made available for weddings from 1994.

The chapel's original bell was stolen, but a brass ship bell from the US Navy replaced it before electronic chimes were later installed. This shows how the building adapted to new times over the decades.
