The peak marks the highest point in Los Angeles County, serving as a natural boundary between San Bernardino and Los Angeles jurisdictions.
Multiple hiking trails lead to the summit, with the Ski Hut Trail connecting to a Sierra Club shelter at 8,200 feet elevation.
The mountain experiences an annual snowfall of 131 inches at 7,700 feet elevation, creating conditions for both summer hiking and winter sports.
