Wittmann is a small settlement in the desert of Maricopa County, located about 35 miles northwest of Phoenix along U.S. Route 60. The community spreads across dry terrain with scattered homes and wide-open spaces typical of rural Arizona.
The settlement was originally called Nadaburg, combining Spanish 'nada' with German 'burg', until it was renamed Wittmann in 1929. The new name honored the Wittmann family who had settled in the area.
The local Assembly of God congregation occupies the early church from 1930, while the Wittmann Cemetery contains graves dating back to 1917 point.
The area is sparsely populated with open views across the desert. Access to shops and services typically requires driving to larger nearby towns.
