Jeanette Kawas National Park, Protected coastal park in Atlántida Department, Honduras

The park extends along the Bay of Tela with a peninsula, tropical rainforest, and Los Micos Lagoon, the largest saltwater lagoon in the region.

The national park, established in 1988, includes Puerto Escondido, a cove that served as a refuge for maritime vessels during colonial times.

The Garifuna community of Miami remains connected to the park, with local fishermen offering traditional boat transportation services to visitors.

Access to the park requires a 45-minute boat journey from Tela, with established tour operators providing guided excursions and necessary equipment.

The protected area contains white sand beaches at Playa Cocalito and hosts populations of howler monkeys in its coastal rainforest environment.
