Centro de Memoria, Paz y Reconciliación

The Centro de Memoria, Paz y Reconciliación is a museum building in a modern structure in the Los Mártires district of Bogotá. It contains exhibition spaces, an auditorium with about 300 seats, and a documentation center surrounded by water features.

The institution opened in 2012 on the former grounds of the Central Cemetery, established to address Colombia's internal conflict. It was developed as a space to promote peace-building and reconciliation among affected communities.

The museum gathers testimonies and documents about Colombia's internal conflict that visitors encounter through rotating exhibitions and educational programs. These collections show personal stories of people affected by violence and loss.

The center is easily reached via the TransMilenio station Centro Memoria on Avenida 26. Guided tours are available with advance reservation and help visitors better understand the exhibitions.

The building contains soil samples from different regions of Colombia, contributed by over 2000 people as symbols of memory and peace commitment. These physical objects connect personal stories to the place and create a touching form of participation.
