The museum was established by Decree 4803 in 2011 as part of Colombia's efforts to document and preserve memories of the internal armed conflict.
The museum collection includes testimonies, photographs, and artifacts that tell stories of Colombian communities affected by decades of social conflict.
Visitors can reach the museum using the TransMilenio public transport system, getting off at the Concejo de Bogotá station on Avenida de las Américas.
The construction project, valued at 64,281 million Colombian pesos, faces completion challenges since the second half of 2023.
