Tenjo is a municipality in the Cundinamarca region situated on a highland plateau in the Andes. The town occupies a small urban core surrounded by extensive farmland and rural areas.
The municipality was founded in 1603 on territory that had been occupied by the Muisca people. These indigenous inhabitants left rock art throughout the region before the Spanish arrival.
The parish church stands at the heart of this municipality as a focal point for community life. It reflects the religious importance that has defined local identity for generations.
