Cúcuta City Hall houses the city's executive branch, headed by a mayor elected for a four-year term without immediate re-election. It works alongside the Concejo de Cúcuta, the municipal council, whose members serve the same term. Administratively it is split into a central administration of secretarías and administrative departments, plus decentralised entities. The current mayor, Jorge Enrique Acevedo Peñaloza, took office on 1 January 2024 after winning 28.47% of the vote.

The city hall was established to organize administration following the city's colonial founding, as documented through Agreement 002 on January 17, 1891. The institution evolved to meet the needs of the growing urban population.
