Simón Bolívar International Airport, Colombian airport in Santa Marta in the departament of Magdalena
Simón Bolívar International Airport is a facility located about 10 miles from Santa Marta that handles domestic and international flights. It features a main terminal with airline counters, an open layout with clear signage, escalators and elevators between floors, and parking areas both above and below ground for visitor convenience.
The airport achieved international status in 2007, allowing flights from other countries to operate here. Prior to that date, the runway and facilities were expanded and improved following an accident, with a new runway built at approximately 1,700 meters in length to accommodate larger aircraft safely.
The airport provides parking both above and below ground, currency exchange and ATMs, small shops, cafes and restaurants. Taxis, car rental services and direct bus connections are available to transport visitors to the city center or surrounding areas within about 30 minutes.
The airport features a bar with ocean views that creates a calm and pleasant setting for travelers waiting for flights. This detail sets it apart from many other airports and makes the wait more enjoyable during layovers.
