The Museo de Oro Tairona displays more than 500 artifacts, including gold objects, bone tools, stone tools, and wooden items from the Tairona civilization.
The museum occupies the Casa de la Aduana, a three-century-old colonial building that served as the customs house during the Spanish colonial period.
Four thematic rooms present exhibitions about pre-Hispanic societies, Magdalena people, Casa de la Aduana stories, and Simon Bolivar's connection to the region.
Located in central Santa Marta, the museum opens Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM with free admission.
The collection contains 51 recovered colonial pieces discovered during archaeological excavations, representing half of the museum's total artifacts.
