Municipio Morán

Municipio Morán is an administrative division in Lara that stretches across eight parishes with varied terrain and valleys. The land sits at an elevation that blends flatlands and sloped areas naturally.

El Tocuyo, the main town here, served as Venezuela's chief administrative center from 1546 to 1548 after its founding. This period made it an early hub of Spanish rule in the region.

The Gayones people farmed in this valley long before Spanish arrival, growing corn, cotton, and cassava that shaped the land. Their agricultural knowledge remains part of how locals think about farming here today.

The area has administrative offices where people can access public services and get local information. It helps to visit these offices during regular business hours when staff are available to assist.

In the 1980s, farming shifted from sugar cane to growing many kinds of vegetables, changing the area's economy completely. This switch shows how local farmers adapted to new market opportunities.
