The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Light is a neoclassical structure built with tall columns, balanced proportions, and detailed stone work on its main facade and bell towers. The present structure was constructed between 1876 and 1893, replacing an earlier stone and clay church that had served the community since 1721. This rebuilding reflected León's growing importance and the desire to create a more significant religious center.
