Torre del Caballito, Office skyscraper on Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City, Mexico
The black glass tower reaches 135 meters in height and contains 34 floors of office space above ground and 15 underground parking levels.
Construction began in 1980 for a planned Holiday Inn hotel, but economic conditions and the 1985 earthquake led to design modifications and completion in 1988.
The building houses offices of Members of Parliament and senators, representing a center of political activity in Mexico City's governmental district.
The structure features 13 high-speed elevators moving at 6.3 meters per second and provides 60,000 square meters of office space across its floors.
The tower incorporates 70 seismic shock absorbers and 185 concrete piles extending 60 meters underground to protect against earthquakes common in the region.
