The chapel features a single-nave design with brick domes, Ionic columns, and a main arch adorned with classical pilasters and frescos.
Built between 1699 and 1704, the chapel originated from María Laris de la Vega's initiative to honor her deceased husband and house the Virgin of Sorrows.
The chapel holds special ceremonies during Holy Week, particularly on Friday of Sorrows when devotees prepare altars and conduct prayers.
Located at Boulevard Heroes del 5 de Mayo and 14 Oriente intersection, the chapel maintains regular hours for religious services and personal prayers.
The original Baroque altarpiece from the 18th century, funded by candlemakers, was replaced with a Neoclassical cypress and Passion of Christ paintings.
