Templo del Ex-Hospital de San Roque, Roman Catholic church in Centro Historico, Puebla, Mexico
The Templo del Ex-Hospital de San Roque features a single barrel vault ceiling, transept with windows, and architectural elements from colonial Mexican religious structures.
Established in 1672, the church originated as part of a hospital complex founded by the Order of Charity of Saint Hippolyte to serve Spanish travelers arriving in New Spain.
The temple contains Talavera ceramic tiles on its exterior, displaying information about its foundation and founder Bernardino Alvarez from Utrera, Seville.
The church welcomes visitors throughout the week and stands near other historical landmarks in Puebla's Centro Historico district.
Following the 2017 Puebla earthquake, the temple underwent an 11-month restoration process to repair structural damages and preserve its architectural elements.
