Three Rivers, city in Live Oak County, Texas, United States
Three Rivers is a small town in Texas located where three rivers converge: the Atascosa, Frio, and Nueces. The place has a quiet, rural feel with open spaces and buildings that span different periods of time.
The town was originally founded in 1913 as Hamiltonburg, named after a landowner who built a train station. In 1914 it was renamed Three Rivers to avoid confusion with another town and to reflect its location near the three rivers.
The town's name comes from the three nearby rivers - the Atascosa, Frio, and Nueces - which shape how people live here. Residents connect with the water and land through fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities that reflect their bond with nature.
The town is easy to reach and sits between San Antonio and Corpus Christi along the way. Nearby lakes and parks offer spots for fishing, camping, and picnicking where you can spend time during the day.
In the 1920s, the first glass factory in Texas opened here, using natural gas and local sand to make glass products. Although it closed during the Great Depression, this remains an unusual chapter in the town's industrial past.
