Pleasanton is a small city in Atascosa County, Texas, located where Bonita Creek meets the surrounding landscape. It covers approximately eight and a half square miles and features wide streets shaded by large oak trees.
The city was founded in 1858 when settlers sought a safer location away from conflicts with Native Americans. In 1910 the county seat moved to nearby Jourdanton, but Pleasanton remained an important trade center and became officially incorporated as a city in 1917.
