Reliant Stadium, NFL stadium in Houston, United States.
NRG Stadium is a stadium in Houston, Texas, serving as home to the Houston Texans and featuring a retractable roof that opens in favorable weather. The facility includes multiple levels with luxury suites, wide spectator stands and a playing surface that adapts for different event formats when needed.
Groundbreaking took place on March 9, 2000, and the stadium opened on August 24, 2002 as Reliant Stadium, built in 30 months for $352 million as the first NFL venue with a retractable roof. It replaced the Astrodome and was designed by HOK Sport, now Populous, for the Houston Texans. It was renamed NRG Stadium on March 19, 2014, and is to revert to Reliant Stadium before the 2026 NFL season.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has been held here each February since 2003, filling the dirt arena floor with rodeo events and concerts; a "RodeoHouston" banner hangs among the screens on the end wall. The stadium also hosts the Texas Bowl and international soccer matches, including Mexico national team friendlies.
The facility offers thousands of parking spots around the grounds and connects to public transport, with clear signs guiding visitors to multiple entrance areas. Gates open several hours before events depending on the occasion, allowing arrivals time to orient themselves and find their seats.
The stadium's name has changed several times: Reliant Stadium until 2014, then NRG Stadium, and Houston Stadium during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo renamed it NRG Stadium (Taylor's Version) on April 19, 2023, for Taylor Swift's three Eras Tour dates there.
