Delmar Stadium, Athletic stadium in Houston, United States
Delmar Stadium is an outdoor sports stadium on Mangum Road in west Houston, Texas, with seating for around 12,000 spectators. It features an artificial turf field and a video scoreboard, and sits within a larger sports complex that also has courts and fields for basketball, rugby, and baseball.
The stadium took its current form in the early 1970s and drew national attention in 1974 when it was used as a training site during preparations for a major sporting event. That moment put it on the map beyond the local sports scene.
The stadium is one of the main venues where Houston high school football teams play in front of their home crowds. On game nights, the stands fill with students, families, and neighbors cheering for their local teams.
The stadium is on Mangum Road in west Houston and shares a parking area with the rest of the sports complex, which fills up quickly on busy event days. Getting there early gives you a better chance of a good spot, particularly when local school teams are playing.
After severe flooding in 2015 damaged the playing surface, the renovation introduced artificial turf to reduce the impact of future water damage. That change allowed the facility to return to regular use much faster after heavy rain events.
