Memorial Park is a municipal park of about 1,500 acres in Harris County, Texas, roughly 7.6 km west of downtown Houston. Its grounds lie on flat terrain at about 18 metres above sea level, with the highest nearby rise reaching 23 metres. The park holds tennis courts, sports fields, a fitness facility and a swimming pool, plus mountain biking routes.
The grounds originally served as Camp Logan, a World War I training facility. After the war, it was officially converted and named Memorial Park in 1924.
Memorial Park is named for the soldiers of Camp Logan, the World War I training camp that once occupied the site; a memorial grove and stone markers recall them. The Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, on the park's western side, runs school and family programs on the plants and animals of the Gulf Coast pine-oak woodland.
Memorial Park lies about 7.6 km west of downtown Houston, in Harris County, at roughly 18 metres above sea level on flat ground. The terrain is almost entirely level, so walking and cycling routes cross it without climbs. The climate is humid subtropical, averaging around 23 °C, with July highs near 30 °C and January lows near 14 °C.
The Clay Family Eastern Glades features a wide pedestrian promenade surrounded by native grasslands and a reflective pond. This quieter area is often overlooked by visitors but offers a retreat from the busier sections of the grounds.
