United Spirit Arena, arena
The United Spirit Arena is a large multipurpose venue on the Texas Tech University campus that holds approximately 15,000 people and primarily hosts basketball, volleyball, and concerts. The facility features training rooms, locker rooms, media areas, and modern equipment designed to accommodate a wide range of events and competitions.
The arena was constructed beginning in 1997 and opened in 1999 after an earlier downtown project plan was abandoned, leading Texas Tech to build on campus instead. Since its opening, it has become a major center for university athletics and entertainment in the region.
The arena serves as a gathering place for Texas Tech and the Lubbock community, where students and residents come together to support their teams. It is a space where people create shared memories during games and performances that strengthen local connections.
The arena provides ample parking nearby and multiple entrances, including the distinctive Victory Tower at the southeast entrance, making access straightforward. Visitors should check the event schedule in advance and arrive early for popular games and concerts, as tickets often sell out quickly.
The building houses a Hall of Fame for Texas Tech basketball that honors players and coaches from the past. Additionally, the arena features a specialized control room that allows staff to manage video and sound for multiple simultaneous events occurring across campus.
