Sri Atmananda Memorial School, historic district in Austin, Travis County, Texas

Sri Atmananda Memorial School is a school building in Austin designed in Renaissance Revival style and situated on spacious grounds with gardens and mature trees. The structure features large windows, stone walls, and arched doorways that reflect the architectural details of the early 20th century.

The building was originally constructed in 1928 as a private residence for E. H. Perry, a wealthy cotton merchant who shaped Austin's early development. The estate changed hands multiple times and served as a home to various schools from 1944 onward, including Saint Mary's Academy and Holy Cross High School, until ceasing operations as a school in 1972.

The school's name reflects a spiritual tradition from India that was brought to Austin by the community that operated it. It served as a gathering place where families from the neighborhood shared in their children's education and learning.

The property sits on a large, open plot with trees and gardens that are easy to walk through and explore. Access is straightforward and the area is quiet with minimal traffic, making it suitable for a leisurely visit or stroll.

The property was known for hosting magic shows and camps during summer months, making it a popular gathering place for young learners in the area. While these special programs are no longer offered, they reflect the creative use of the grounds during the school's operation.
