Cox-Craddock House, Colonial Revival residence in Austin, United States
The Cox-Craddock House is a residential dwelling on East 32nd Street with a symmetrical brick facade, three pedimented dormers, and a central entry portico. Its construction reflects colonial design principles through classical details arranged in traditional proportions.
The house was designed in 1928 by architect Hugo Kuehne and initially served as home to Robert and Linda Cox, economics professors at the University of Texas. Ownership changed hands after 1948 before the property gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Colonial Revival architecture of this house represents a return to early American design principles through its traditional proportions and classical details.
The home is situated in an established residential neighborhood and remains visible from the street. The eastern side allows for a view of the restored porch with its original balustrade and open design layout.
The eastern porch was enclosed for many years before restoration returned it to its original open condition. This reconstruction followed Hugo Kuehne's original specifications and restored the authentic railing pattern he designed.
