Earle-Harrison House

The Earle-Harrison House is a Greek Revival mansion in Waco with classical columns and symmetrical architecture set on spacious grounds. The property features formal gardens and lawns extending across several acres near North Fifth Street.

The house was built in 1858 and originally stood at a different location in Waco before the city changed. In the 1960s it was moved to prevent destruction and carefully restored to preserve its original character.

The mansion reflects architectural preferences that wealthy families favored in mid-1800s Texas, where Greek Revival style with classical columns symbolized prosperity and refinement. This design choice shows how people in that era wanted to display their status through their homes.

Preserving this house required an unusual engineering feat during the relocation process. The building was carefully split into two sections so it could be transported across Waco and then reassembled on the new site.
