A Tribute to Courage

A Tribute to Courage is a monumental concrete and fiberglass sculpture rising along Interstate 45 that stands clearly visible to passing traffic. The structure is assembled from multiple large sections joined together to create this towering form.

The artwork was created in the 1990s as a tribute to a historical figure who played a key role in Texas's early statehood and conflicts with Mexico. Its completion marked one of the tallest monuments of its kind in the United States.

This monument honors a significant figure in Texas history whose leadership shaped the region during the 1800s. The statue has become a roadside landmark that draws the attention of passing travelers and local visitors alike.

The sculpture is reached via a pathway that begins behind a wooded area and leads to a park with a visitor center. Being positioned near the highway means you can view it from the road, and there is a dedicated area for parking and exploring on foot.

The structure weighs around 25 tons and consists of 10-foot sections fitted together with careful precision. The sculpture demonstrates how modern engineering techniques were applied to make an artistic creation of this scale possible.
