A Tribute to Courage is a 67-foot (20 m) statue of Sam Houston by sculptor David Adickes, built in 1994 and set beside Interstate 45 within the Sam Houston National Forest near Huntsville, Texas. The figure of Houston stands upright, and the monument ranks among the tallest statues in the United States.
The artwork was created in the 1990s as a tribute to a historical figure who played a key role in Texas's early statehood and conflicts with Mexico. Its completion marked one of the tallest monuments of its kind in the United States.
