Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is an open-air theater featuring 6,500 covered seats and 10,000 lawn spaces set within The Woodlands' natural landscape. The venue combines a large performance area with open lawn seating, allowing visitors to enjoy shows in a relaxed outdoor setting.

Local civic leaders and Houston Symphony members began the project in 1982, with the grand opening occurring in April 1990. The venue has since grown into a major cultural center for the region.

The venue regularly hosts performances by the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, and Houston Ballet as part of their seasonal schedules.

A five-story parking garage provides direct access to the pavilion, and multiple concession stands serve food and beverages during events. Visitors should prepare for outdoor conditions, especially when choosing lawn seating, and arrive early to select good spots.

Following Hurricane Ike in 2008, the venue underwent extensive renovations with a reinforced roof system designed to withstand extreme weather. These improvements make it one of the most resilient performance venues in the region.
