Dallas World Aquarium, Public aquarium in West End Historic District, Dallas, US.
The Dallas World Aquarium is a zoo with public aquarium exhibits and rainforest habitats in the West End Historic District of Dallas, Texas. The building covers two city blocks with multiple levels that show animals from South America, Africa, and the oceans.
The aquarium opened in 1992 inside a converted warehouse from 1924 that was previously used for trade and storage. Over time, more buildings and sections were added to accommodate new animal species.
The building sits in the West End Historic District, a part of downtown Dallas that was once a warehouse and trading neighborhood. Visitors walk through tropical sections beneath free-flying branches while birds and small mammals live and move around them.
The entrance is on North Griffin Street at 1801, where a restaurant is also located. Feedings and animal presentations take place throughout the day, so visitors can see several of them.
The Cloud Forest Trek uses a 25-foot-high (7.6 m) and 52-foot-wide (15.8 m) LED screen showing high-resolution images from South American rainforests with day-night transitions. Visitors see this projection from different angles as they walk through the section.
