Southwestern Life Insurance Building, Insurance office building in Downtown Dallas, US
The Southwestern Life Insurance Building stood as a 16-story structure reaching 53 meters in height at 1500 Main Street in Downtown Dallas.
The initial two-story structure from 1910 expanded to ten floors in 1918 when Southland Insurance Company purchased and enhanced the property with modern amenities.
The building represented the early commercial development of Dallas, marking a period of substantial growth in the insurance and financial sectors during the 1910s.
Three elevators, mahogany woodwork, and hot and cold running water in every office made this building a prime location for businesses until its demolition in 1972.
The site transformed from an insurance headquarters into Pegasus Plaza in 1994, following its acquisition by the City of Dallas in the early 1990s.
