The Kirby Building is a 17-story skyscraper at 1509 Main Street in downtown Dallas. Completed in 1913, it was designed by Barnett, Haynes & Barnett and Lang & Witchell for Adolphus Busch. The building has 16 floors according to some sources and stands 67.67 meters tall.
The structure was built in 1913 by beer manufacturer Adolphus Busch and originally called the Busch Building. Its sale to Kirby Investment Group in 1918 marked a change in ownership and gave it its current name.
The building's name recalls the Kirby Investment Group, which bought it in 1918 from Adolphus Busch's Busch Building. It later housed a department store, one of the uses recorded for the structure. The building is a Dallas Landmark and a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The building now functions as a residential complex with loft-style apartments for residents. It sits in downtown Dallas and is easily visible from the street, though interior access is limited to residents.
The building underwent a major transformation in the 1990s when it was completely renovated and converted into residential lofts. This renovation preserved the historic structure while adapting it for modern living.
