Neiman Marcus Building

The Neiman Marcus Building is a nine-story retail structure at the corner of Main and Ervay streets featuring red brick walls and white stone ornamental details in Renaissance Revival style. The facade displays elaborate architectural features that reflect the sophistication of the original luxury concept.

The building was constructed in 1914 after the original store burned down, marking a new beginning for the luxury company. This rebuilding period launched a time of expanding growth and increased importance in the retail world.

The building shaped Dallas as a fashion hub when it hosted weekly clothing shows starting in the 1920s. Visitors can still sense this legacy of fashion innovation in the elegant display windows and refined interior spaces.

The building sits in the heart of downtown and is easily reached on foot from main shopping streets. Inside, several restaurants and cafes serve food and drinks during standard business hours.

The building reopened just 27 days after a major fire in 1964, demonstrating a remarkable reconstruction effort. This swift recovery showed the company's strong determination to maintain its presence in the city.
