Old Dallas Central Library, Civic building and library in downtown Dallas, United States.
The Old Dallas Central Library spans 120,000 square feet across four floors above ground and two basement levels at 1954 Commerce Street.
The building replaced a Carnegie Library in 1955 and served as the central library until 1982, when collections moved to the J. Erik Jonsson facility.
The structure, designed by architect George Dahl, stands as a contributing property in both the Dallas Downtown Historic District and Harwood Street Historic District.
The Dallas Morning News relocated its headquarters to this building after extensive renovations completed in December 2017.
The library building contains an auditorium that accommodates 250 people and features an outdoor terrace for public gatherings.
