Thanks-Giving Square is a multi-faith garden and park in downtown Dallas, Texas, that spans one city block. The sunken garden contains a white spiral chapel, golden rings, water pools, walkways and fountains surrounded by office buildings.
Four Dallas businessmen founded the square in 1964 as a tribute to gratitude. The garden opened in 1976 and received recognition from President Gerald Ford.
The Hall of Thanksgiving displays artifacts from different faiths, including Hindu, Jewish, Christian and Muslim interpretations of the 100th Psalm. Visitors can view religious texts and symbols that highlight the shared theme of gratitude across world religions.
The garden connects to an underground pedestrian network that includes restaurants and retail spaces, providing shelter from weather. Visitors can walk through covered passages to explore downtown Dallas.
The Chapel of Thanksgiving rises 90 feet (27 meters) in a spiral shape. The ceiling consists of stained glass panels that form the Glory Window.
