Titche-Goettinger Building, Renaissance Revival department store in downtown Dallas, United States
The Titche-Goettinger Building spans eight floors with limestone exterior walls and features architectural elements from both Renaissance Revival and Art Deco styles.
Edward Titche and Max Goettinger established their department store in 1902, constructing this flagship location in 1929 as one of the largest retail spaces in Texas.
The interior layout followed traditional department store arrangements, with the first floor dedicated to accessories and featuring patterned terrazzo floors and ornate ceilings.
The building now contains 129 residential apartments, retail spaces, and houses the Universities Center at Dallas, offering educational opportunities for local students.
A section of floors 2 through 8 was removed during renovation while maintaining the original facade to provide natural light to interior apartments.
