Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Science museum in Victory Park, Dallas, USA.
The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a natural history facility in Victory Park, Dallas, Texas, spanning five floors. Its eleven exhibition halls present prehistoric finds, minerals, weather systems, space exploration and technological developments.
The facility opened its doors in December 2012 in the Dallas Arts District following a generous donation from the Perot family. It replaced the older Museum of Natural History that had stood in Fair Park since 1936 and was subsequently closed.
The building with its striking cube-shaped design was conceived by architect Thom Mayne and incorporates sustainable materials for energy efficiency. Families often visit on weekends to explore the natural science exhibits together and participate in hands-on experiments.
The museum sits near the Victory Station stop of the DART Light Rail, and paid parking is available adjacent to the building. Visitors should plan several hours to explore all floors and interactive areas.
The T. Boone Pickens Life Then and Now Hall displays Alamosaurus bones, one of the last dinosaurs in North America, discovered in Big Bend National Park. The top floor offers an outdoor area with views of the Dallas skyline and installations for weather observation.
