Dallas Museum of Art, Art museum in Arts District, Dallas, United States.
The Dallas Museum of Art is an art museum in the Arts District of Dallas with more than 24,000 objects from five millennia across multiple floors. The collections cover American, European, African, and Asian art, organized by origin and period.
The institution was founded in 1903 and moved to its current building in 1984, designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes. This relocation marked the beginning of the Dallas Arts District.
The museum bears one of the city's most recognized family names, recalling early supporters who secured a permanent place for art here. Visitors today can view works by great masters, showing centuries of different painting techniques and visual languages.
Admission has been free since 2013, and the building organizes educational programs, workshops, and special exhibitions throughout the year. The rooms are wheelchair accessible and offer guided tours in several languages.
Four parallel water walls divide the sculpture garden into smaller zones, each forming its own exhibition space. Modern sculptures and strategically placed plants enhance the spatial effect of each zone.
