505 North Ervay, Office skyscraper in Downtown Dallas, United States
505 North Ervay is an 11-story office building in downtown Dallas featuring a steel frame with brick and glass covering. Distinctive horizontal floor separations about 5 feet (1.5 m) wide run across the entire facade, giving the structure its characteristic lined appearance.
The building was constructed between 1945 and 1948, growing from an initial eight-story design to eleven floors during development. This expansion nearly doubled the original planned size of the structure.
The structure housed United States Secret Service offices during the investigation following the John F. Kennedy assassination in 1963.
The building sits in the heart of downtown Dallas and is easily accessible on foot from other commercial areas. Visitors should note this remains an active office building, so access to interior spaces may be limited to public areas.
A 35-foot (10.5 m) neon sign for an insurance company was installed on the roof in 1955, making it shine across the downtown skyline for decades. This rooftop advertisement became a recognizable landmark of that era.
