The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art is a museum in the Arts District of Dallas dedicated to works from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia. The galleries are arranged to guide visitors through different regions, with objects ranging from sculptures and paintings to decorative pieces.
Trammell and Margaret Crow started buying Asian art during their travels in the 1960s, building a personal collection over several decades. In 1998, that collection was opened to the public as a free museum in downtown Dallas.
The collection presents artistic traditions from across Asia that visitors can experience directly through displayed works. Rotating exhibitions and permanent displays allow you to discover the range of these artistic expressions during your visit.
The museum is free to enter and sits in the Arts District, within walking distance of other cultural venues. It is a good stop whether you have a full afternoon or just an hour to spare.
The Skybridge linking Galleries II and III is a glass structure carried on steel beams; from it visitors look out over the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Trammell Crow Center and the Seated Daoist Deity fountain below. Gallery III is dominated by the Mughal wall, hung from the ceiling because of its weight, and by two Indian gazebos, one of which spent years at the Crow family farm in East Texas.
