Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art, Asian art museum in Arts District, Dallas, United States.
The Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art is a museum in the Arts District of Dallas dedicated to works from China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia. The galleries are arranged to guide visitors through different regions, with objects ranging from sculptures and paintings to decorative pieces.
Trammell and Margaret Crow started buying Asian art during their travels in the 1960s, building a personal collection over several decades. In 1998, that collection was opened to the public as a free museum in downtown Dallas.
The collection presents artistic traditions from across Asia that visitors can experience directly through displayed works. Rotating exhibitions and permanent displays allow you to discover the range of these artistic expressions during your visit.
The museum is free to enter and sits in the Arts District, within walking distance of other cultural venues. It is a good stop whether you have a full afternoon or just an hour to spare.
Some of the objects on display date back to around 3500 BC, making them among the oldest artifacts you can see in any Dallas museum. Standing next to a piece that old in a free, open space feels very different from viewing it behind glass in a formal setting.
