Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, Modern theatre in Dallas Arts District, United States.
The Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre is a modern performing arts building in the Arts District that rises 12 floors with its main auditorium positioned centrally and support spaces arranged both above and below it. This vertical arrangement allows the building to integrate performance halls, lobbies, and backstage facilities within a compact footprint.
The building opened in 2009 as part of the AT&T Performing Arts Center, replacing the previous home of the Dallas Theater Center with a facility designed for flexible staging. This new venue marked a significant expansion of performing arts infrastructure in the city.
The Dallas Theater Center presents contemporary and classical productions that draw people to the Arts District and establish theater as a vital part of the city's cultural life. Regular performances shape the neighborhood's character and create gathering spaces for art lovers.
Underground parking is available through the Lexus Red lot, with additional spaces at the Lexus Silver lot beneath the Moody Performance Hall. The central location in the Arts District offers walkable access to nearby restaurants and other cultural venues.
The performance chamber can transform through adjustable glass walls and movable panels that shift the space from a traditional proscenium stage to a thrust stage or open floor layout. This technical flexibility allows the theater to accommodate diverse production styles and experimental formats.
