Alfred Horatio Belo House, Neoclassical office building in Dallas, US.
The Alfred Horatio Belo House is a neoclassical office building with two stories, marked by Corinthian columns and an elliptical fanlight above the main entrance. Located on Ross Avenue, the structure was originally built as a private residence and now serves as an event venue.
The building was constructed in 1900 for Colonel Alfred Belo, founder of The Dallas Morning News newspaper. It served as a funeral home from 1926 to 1976 before taking on its current purpose.
The house reflects the taste of the early 1900s and shows classical style elements common to buildings of that era. Visitors can notice the craftsmanship in details like the columns and entrance design when walking through.
The building is mainly accessible for events and is managed by the Dallas Bar Association. Visitors should check ahead of time if it can be viewed during their planned visit, as it is primarily used for private functions and weddings.
The building underwent significant renovations in 1978 and later gained an additional structure called the Pavilion. This expansion shows how the property adapted to modern use while keeping its historic character intact.
