Shiloh Field Community Garden, Community garden in Denton, United States.
Shiloh Field Community Garden is a large farming project in Denton that covers about 14.5 acres (5.9 hectares) of land. The space contains numerous planted beds, pathways running through the growing areas, and structures for storing and processing harvested crops.
The project started in 2009 when Gene Gumfory partnered with Denton Bible Church to address food insecurity in the community. This collaboration created the foundation for an initiative that has continued to expand over the years.
The garden serves as a meeting place where local schools conduct agriculture programs and learn how food grows from seed to harvest. Visitors can see people of different ages working together in the beds and sharing knowledge about growing methods.
The site is open on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays when volunteers are active during morning hours. Visitors can join in with ongoing activities or simply walk around to observe the work.
The site has grown to become the largest community garden in the United States according to national certification standards. This recognition reflects how boldly the project was designed and how it serves as a model for other places.
