Chua Buu Mon

Chua Buu Mon is a Buddhist temple in Port Arthur featuring meditation halls, ornamental gardens with bamboo groves, and water features spread across the grounds. Multiple Buddha statues are positioned throughout, creating a setting designed for prayer and reflection.

The temple was originally established in Beaumont in 1980 and relocated to Port Arthur in 1986, where it received formal dedication ceremonies in 1987. This marked the beginning of a permanent home for the local Buddhist community.

The temple serves a Vietnamese Buddhist community and welcomes visitors to experience meditation practices and spiritual teachings in a welcoming environment. The spaces reflect traditions brought from Southeast Asia and create a gathering place where locals practice their faith.

The temple is open during Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings when visitors can join without prior experience. It is helpful to wear comfortable clothing, as removing shoes is expected when entering the grounds.

The grounds feature extensive gardens with water lilies, lotus flowers, and koi ponds that draw many visitors throughout the year. These natural elements offer a tranquil retreat that extends beyond the religious community.
