Britton Hill, Summit in Walton County, Florida, United States
Britton Hill is a gentle rise of sedimentary rock in northern Florida, reaching 105 meters above sea level. The surroundings consist of flat terrain with pine trees and low brush, while the summit is marked by a small plaza with stone plaques and a flagpole.
Surveyors confirmed in the mid-20th century that this point represents the highest natural spot in Florida. Official recognition followed in the years afterward, and a monument was built to honor the geographic significance.
The summit attracts people who set out to climb the highest point in each American state. Many visitors photograph the marker and sign a summit logbook kept on-site, which holds entries from travelers across the country.
Access is through Lakewood Park on County Road 285, where information panels and short walking paths are available. The paths are flat and easy for most visitors, making the arrival at the summit a matter of just a few minutes.
This rise is considered the lowest highpoint among all 50 American states. The difference between summit and surrounding landscape is only about 20 meters, emphasizing the gentle character of northern Florida topography.
