George P. Cossar State Park occupies wooded land on the shore of 6,100-acre Enid Lake, five miles northeast of Oakland off Mississippi Highway 32. It holds 76 campsites, camper cabins, a visitors center, disc golf and miniature golf courses, a picnic area and a nature trail.

The park was established in 1966 under the name Yocona Ridge State Park and renamed in 1979 to honor a state legislator. This change marked a shift in how the place was recognized within the region.

Enid Lake's most noted catch is a world-record crappie taken in 1954, a fact anglers still bring up at the boat ramp. The park's 76 campsites and camper cabins fill with fishing parties, and the lake's 6,100 acres draw boaters and waterskiers as well as people casting for crappie and bass.

The park operates daily and provides modern camping areas with hookups, cabins, and boat launching locations throughout the grounds. Plan your visit during summer months for the best weather and water recreation conditions.

The park features an 18-hole disc golf course, a modern recreation activity that has grown in popularity among visitors. Beyond that, you will find quieter walking trails through mixed forests where you can enjoy the natural surroundings.
