Rickwood Caverns State Park, Cave system and state park in Blount County, Alabama, United States

The limestone cave system extends for one mile underground, featuring illuminated formations, spring-fed pools, and blind cave fish within its passages.

Eddie Rickles discovered the caves while leading a Boy Scout troop in the 1950s, combining his name with Sonny Arwood to create Rickwood Caverns.

The cave system contains 260-million-year-old limestone formations that display fossil remains from ancient ocean beds within its soft rock walls.

Cave tours operate daily with specific schedules, requiring visitors to navigate 365 stairs throughout the one-mile journey at 62 degrees Fahrenheit.

The park includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool filled with water sourced directly from the underground cave system.
