Ugland House, Office building in George Town, Cayman Islands
Ugland House is a five-story office building on South Church Street in George Town, Grand Cayman. The structure covers roughly 10,000 square feet (930 square meters) and serves as a business center for corporate services.
The building was constructed in the 1970s and quickly became a hub for corporate registrations in the Cayman Islands. In 2008, the United States Government Accountability Office conducted an investigation into the companies registered at this address.
The building takes its name from a Norwegian shipping family whose business activities span several continents. Today the facade shows no outward sign of the thousands of registered companies inside.
The building sits in the business district of George Town and is easily visible from the street during regular office hours. From the outside you can view the plain facade, but access to the interior is restricted to business purposes.
Over 40,000 companies are registered at this address, which mathematically assigns several dozen firms to each square meter. This concentration makes the building one of the most densely used corporate addresses in the world.
