Fort McIntosh, Military fort in Laredo, United States

Fort McIntosh occupies land along the Rio Grande River, featuring Victorian architecture buildings including barracks, officers' quarters, and a parade ground.

Established in 1849 near Paso de los Indios, the fort served as a defense point against Native American raids and monitored the United States-Mexico border.

The fort housed African American Buffalo Soldiers of the Tenth Cavalry during the late 1800s, contributing to the military integration history.

The former military installation now functions as part of Laredo Community College, with several original structures maintained for educational purposes.

Six commanders of this frontier post later became Union generals while three others became Confederate generals during the Civil War.
