Kraken Unleashed, Steel roller coaster in SeaWorld Orlando, United States.
Kraken Unleashed is a steel roller coaster at SeaWorld Orlando in Florida, guiding riders through seven inversions along a 4177-foot (1273-meter) track. The floorless seats let legs dangle freely, while the ride reaches speeds up to 65 mph (105 km/h).
The attraction opened on June 1, 2000, and at the time ranked among the tallest and fastest roller coasters in Florida. Six years later, a new ride at Disney surpassed it, but it has kept its appeal for thrill seekers.
The name comes from a northern sea monster legend, and rock formations along the route recall this mythical creature. The entire experience is enhanced by color effects and lighting that evoke sunken ocean depths.
Riders must measure at least 54 inches (137 cm) in height and should be free of neck or back issues. The queue winds through a themed area with many details, so waiting time can be long even when several trains operate.
Three descents lead below ground level, and one plunges into an artificial cavern where water jets shoot sideways into the air. Spectators often stand near the pool edge and regularly get wet as trains rush past them.
