Primeval Whirl, Wild mouse roller coaster at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Florida.
Primeval Whirl was a spinning coaster in DinoLand U.S.A. with two parallel tracks where cars rotated on their own axis while moving forward. The ride sent four passengers per vehicle through curves and small drops, with seats arranged inward and the structure painted in bright colors resembling a roadside carnival.
The ride opened in March 2002 as part of an expansion phase at Disney's Animal Kingdom and closed permanently in 2020. Removal took place in 2021 to make way for future developments within the park.
The attraction incorporated time travel and dinosaur extinction themes, connecting with the surrounding prehistoric elements of DinoLand U.S.A.
The ride lasted about 90 seconds and passed through several turns at a height of around 42 feet (13 meters). Guests should have been aware that the spinning motion could cause discomfort for those sensitive to rotating movements.
The cars could rotate multiple times during a single ride, creating a different experience for every trip. The design intentionally referenced roadside carnival aesthetics from the 1950s, an uncommon stylistic choice within a Disney park setting.
